Hi, friends! Did you know it’s fall?!?! The first official day of fall was Monday, September 23, and I couldn’t be happier! BUT, it doesn’t feel like fall, obviously! I feel like I’m beating a dead horse in regards to the extreme hot weather we’ve been having, but fall is my favorite time of year, and I’m so ready for it to finally arrive! I know you are, too! Even if summer is your favorite, you’ve got to be over the heat by this point.
So I thought it would be fun to share 6 ways to make it feel like fall, even when it’s 90 degrees outside! When you think about it, there are a lot of little things you can do to bring the crisp feeling of fall into your day, no matter what the thermostat says! I hope these bring a smile to your face and you fall in love with them! (You get it?! LOL)
ONE | Cook Fall Foods
When the weather gets chilly, I automatically turn to yummy, comfort food. Who doesn’t?! That’s one of the best parts of this time of year and the holidays – the food! But that doesn’t mean you have to wait until it gets cold to make them! Otherwise, in the south, you could be waiting forever for it to get cold. Some of my go-to recipes I like to start making to get me in the fall feeling are chili (blog post to come), banana bread, and Halloween cookies (you know which ones I’m talking about).
TWO | Decorate
One of the easiest things you can do to make it start feeling like fall is to decorate! Make a Target or Hobby Lobby run, stop at your local pumpkin patch, and go to town! Decorate everything – inside your house, your porch and patio outside, your work space, EVERYTHING! Even if it doesn’t feel like fall, it will look like it!
THREE | Light a New Candle
With it being so hot lately, I’m sure you’re like me and the last thing you want to do is be outside. Get cozy inside with a fall-scented candle. It may not feel like fall outside, but it will feel like it and even smell like it inside! And it’s no secret that Bath and Body Works has the best candles and the largest variety to choose from! They are my go-to spot to pick out seasonal candles.
FOUR | Watch Fall/Halloween Movies
Now I’m not someone that says you have to wait until it’s fall to watch your favorite Halloween movies. Heck, you can watch them in the spring if you want! But watching Hocus Pocus will definitely get you in the mood for fall! Host a fun, themed movie night with friends and serve your fall foods! Love!
FIVE | Introduce Darker Shades Into Your Beauty Routine
I’m a pink lip and nail girl all the way! But once it’s fall time, I switch to darker shades for nail polish and lipstick. It’s the perfect to transition into the fall season when you can’t fully dress like it’s fall because it’s so dang hot still outside! I like to paint my nails a dark burgundy color and use a mauve lipstick.
SIX | Dress for Fall
Okay, now before you freak out, I’m not saying put on your thickest sweater, with jeans and boots. We don’t need anyone passing out! But you can start incorporating fall colors and fall pieces, not full fall looks. New fall styles are dropping everywhere so look at Instagram and boutiques for inspiration. Wear boots or booties with a skirt and top, wear a sweater with shorts, add a fall hat as an accessory, etc. You get the point! You can definitely dress for fall without bundling up in thick layers.
I’d love to hear how you make it feel like fall! Leave a comment below! 🙂
